’Wiki’ shows a more relaxed and laid back version of the songwriter, half whispering and speaking leads you through the song and shows that Favor has another trick up his sleeve than hardpumping retropop. By inviting his liveband into the studio he has given his catchy indiepop songs an edgy live feeling. Favor still retains his unmistakable throwback vibes, his rhythmic sense and catchy melodic grip, but the song tastes more of a crackling late- night adventure than a massive dance party. It sounds familiar, smooth and has a natural warmth to it that makes you think of Childish Gamino’s ‘Sober’ or the ‘If We Want To’ from the Danish band M.I.L.K. The melancholy constantly sizzles beneath the surface of the lyrics where the irony is present ‘I never missed anyone’.
“It is one of those songs I never thought I’d write. We had actually closed the EP with another song and were in the to mix what was supposed to be the next single. The record label had chosen what they felt would be the best single, the manager and the whole team were behind it. But then someone in the studio plays some chords during a break, another one suddenly adds a beat and I really think it is an 90s RnB track. It sounded like something from a TLC album. I decide to play along and then the lyrics comes: We could get it down, but you don’t know no’”, Jeppe Gade tells.
It is about refraining from drilling too much in the past of the person you love. Do not overly scrutinize the past, every footstep, every picture and all the relationships. Try to be able to enjoy being together in the present without all the baggage and the dirt you can dig up.
Favor plays an intimate release concert for the release of his new EP at DECO in Copenhagen on October 16. You are all invited.
lyrics
I could get on you till my phone’s on fire
looking at your story and it gets me wired
We can get it down but you don’t know no
down but you don't know - but you don’t know no
If we get it on it is fine by me
Do you wanna know when and where I’ve been
We can get it down - but you don’t know no -
don’t know
I never missed anyone enough that I would
Never missed anyone enough
I Make believe
I Make believe
I never missed anyone enough that I would
Never missed anyone enough
I Make believe
I Make believe
I can play this game here too
patching up my life so it fits on you
We can get it on
We can get it on
I understand that we’ve been hiding in cellophane / oh oh
What a shame
We keep on cheating on the waiting game
I never missed anyone enough that I would
Never missed anyone enough
I Make believe
I Make believe
I never missed anyone enough that I would
Never missed anyone enough
I Make believe
I Make believe
I can play this game here too
patching up my life so it fits on you
We can get down - but you don’t know no
(down down down)
